Danzak will be playing at the Soho Shorts International Film Festival in London this week! It is part of the Official Selection of the Long Format Shorts, a selection of films under 30 minutes in length, made in the UK and abroad, made by both new and established talent. This section is in its inaugural year with a programme that has a strong theme of morality and loss of innocence.
Screening venue is the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Total running time approx 110 mins
£8 / £7 concessions / £6 ICA members.
£5 for everyone all day Monday.
Last screening is Wednesday 29th, 6.30pm, on Cinema 2.
During the Thursday July 2nd “Home Run”show, hosted by Bernard St-Laurent at the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Corporation, worldwide traveler and friend Andrew Princz talked about his upcoming Travels on the Globe series showcase at the Segal Centre in Montreal, Canada. “Danzak” is one of the films featured and is also mentioned in this interview.

Danzak continues its festival run this summer, as it is being screened in a series of festivals around the world. One more time. What a journey for the Scissor Dance!
From fantastic Bulgaria, it has been selected to play at the In the Palace film festival; the Euganea Film Festival in Padova, Italy; at the Segal Centre in Montreal, Canada, as part of the Travels on the Globe series, and at the All Roads/National Geographic Film Festival in Los Angeles.

“Danzak” has won the Best Student Short Film category at the Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday, Saturday May 17th. “Danzak” was selected among 400 other shorts from all over the world.
The American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes supports upcoming filmmakers by screening their films at The Pavilion during the Festival while providing an opportunity for these filmmakers to connect with the global audience at Cannes.
The award was featured on the online channel at cinencuentro.com.
As you friends know already, Danzak has been selected to participate at the Emerging Filmmakers Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. Such participation allows us also to get in the Short Film Corner.
This has been an amazing year for Danzak, and we think this might be a great way of wrapping the festival season up!
Danzak keeps getting recognition on the festival circuit. It has been awarded the Jury Award for Best Narrative Short Film at the Cine Las Americas Film Festival in Austin, Texas, and the Best Narrative at the Marin County Festival of Short Film and Video in San Rafael, California.

English: The first Alternative Film Festival in Villa Maria del Triunfo -a few blocks away where Danzak was shot- took place during the last week of January. It showcased Danzak along with other shorts by Matias Vega, Cristian Alarcon, the Chaski group, Guarango Films, Flaviano Quispe, among others. Thank you, Efraín!

SADDLE UP is the first official student film program of the department of Radio, Television and Film of the University of Texas that has been curated only by students. The show includes some of the latest and greatest documentary, animation, fiction and experimental work from both undergraduate and graduate filmmakers. From cowboy poetry to gypsy wagons to the Peruvian Andes, SADDLE UP demonstrates the range, talent and potential of UT’s RTF students.

After the San Diego Latino Film Festival, Danzak will have its second screening of the month (and France Premiere) at the 21° Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine at Toulouse, France. Danzak is part of the Radar 2 Shorts competition.
Screening schedule:
Simultaneously to France, Danzak will be screening at the Tiburon International Film Festival, in California, as part of the Religion Short Films (Shorts Program). This will be Danzak’s West Coast Premiere.

Danzak’s last March screening will be as part of the Shorts Program 1 at the AFI Dallas Film Festival (March 26 – April 2), which will feature an extensive line up of 173 features and shorts. Gaby will be on attendance!

The Banff Centre in Canada promotes understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share — and find inspiration in — mountain experiences, ideas and challenges. Activities include the Banff Mountain Book Festival , the Banff Mountain Film Festival and World Tour, the Banff Mountain Photography Competition, Mountain Forum, Mountain Conferences, and Mountain Summits.
In 2008 Danzak was invited to participate at the 2008/2009 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour with screenings in the United States, Canada and worldwide.

Danzak, Gaby’s lastest short, has been selected into the Official Selection of the Chicago Latino Film Festival along other four Peruvian films (Dioses, Pasajeros, El Acuarelista, Diario del Fin). At the same time it will be playing for the first time in the United Kingdom, at the East End Film Festival in London, and at the Cine Las Americas Film Festival, in Austin, Texas.
